The Valle di Casies valley stretches northward for about 18 km along the Casies stream, from Monguelfo in Val Pusteria almost to the Austrian border. Wide and sunny, this beautiful valley characterized by gentle slopes and thick coniferous forests, by clean air and wonderful landscapes, is an untouched natural paradise inviting you to rest and relax, forgetting the hectic pace of modern life. The near Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park hides some remarkable natural treasures and constitutes, together with the High Tauern National Park, the most extended nature reserve of Europe. The area is a haven for a large variety of animals and plants, some threatened with extinction.

Besides the wonderful ski runs on the near Plan de Corones, Valle di Casies offers more than 40 km cross-country skiing trails winding through charming landscapes. Moreover, here takes place the Gran Fondo Val Casies, second biggest long distance race in Italy included in the Euroloppet, Gran Fondo Master Tour and Italian Ranking. You can also practice ski mountaineering, snowshoeing and ice skating. In summer you can choose among many outdoor activities, especially trekking and mountain biking along fascinating trails like the Smugglers’ Trail.

The charmingand picturesque resort of Colle has a well-equipped leisure center with two tennis courts, one of clay and the other of artificial grass, floodlit. In the center you can also play archery and air guns target shooting, whereas the paragliding association Para Alpine Gsies organizes tandem flights for everyone wanting to experience the thrill of free flight. Take-off point is at Malga Uwald, above S. Maddalena.

In Riscone, about 24 km away from Monguelfo, lies the beautiful 9 hole golf course of Golf Club Pustertal.
