Trento

Elegant historical city of a thousand facets

The capital city of Trentino is an elegant historical town waiting to be discovered. The city has many cultural attractions, a long tradition of wellness, top restaurants and pubs, and exclusive places to satisfy your craving for shopping. Only a few miles away lie Valle dei Laghi and Monte Bondone, where you can spend your leisure time practicing sports or taking part to many other activities, and the Pinè Plateau and Valle di Cembra, loved by the famous painter Albrecht Dürer.

Trento is a charming city that won’t fail to catch your eye. Its ancient Roman origins are an attraction for all history lovers, who are enchanted by its many treasures: castles (the imposing Buonconsiglio Castle and the many others scattered in the surroundings), churches, the recently renovated theatre, the old town with its historical buildings… many are also the museums and cultural events dedicated to ancient, modern and contemporary art.

If you stay in one of the hotels of the city, or in the surroundings, you will have the chance to try the gourmet food and wines of this area, famous for wine-growing: Pinot gris, Chardonnay, Teroldego, Müller Thurgau, Marzemino and Melot are only some of the most renowned wines produced here.

Trento and its surroundings boast a long tradition of wellness. Besides the wellness centers of the hotels, a few miles away from Trento you find the spa resort Terme di Garniga, the only center in Italy specialized in phyto-balneotherapy. Here you can spend a relaxing day trying a hay bath and the beneficial effects of medicinal herbs.

A few miles from Trento you find the beautiful Mediterranean landscape and the many trails for mountain biking and horseback riding of Valle dei Laghi, and the wonderful ski area of Monte Bondone. Northwest from Trento lie the beautiful Pinè Plateau and the lush green Valle di Cembra. These places of pristine nature rich in castles, sanctuaries, biotopes and eco-museums are famous for the Pyramids of Segonzano, unique sculptures created by nature, and for the many trekking trails. Painter Albrecht Dürer loved to walk in this beautiful nature, so much that a theme route has been dedicated to the artist.
Some alternative sports are practiced in the many resorts and lakes of the area, like curling, orienteering and dragon boat racing, where the canoes used have the top and the end framed as the head and the tail of a dragon. The Wine and Flavors Route of Colline Avisiane, Faedo and Valle di Cembra invite visitors to have a taste of the delicious local specialties and excellent wines.
